University of Sydney is a place that makes things happen. We are a community not only excellence, but of influence. Here are just some of the amazing things our academics, students and graduates achieved in 2012.
From its inception in 1850, the University of Sydney was created as an institution fit Ltzrcimim of New South Wales, not just reflect the ancient universities of England. Principle was formative academic talent alone regardless of religious belief or social will find admission test. We can make a strong claim to be the world’s first university men admit students solely on the basis of academic excellence. In 1880 we were also the first to accept women on the same basis as men.
These pages provide a brief overview of the history of the University of Sydney and at the central figures in our history, including those studied here and went on to have a big impact after I graduated.
Our founders recognized the power of education to change the society. We hold that belief itself today.
